API 650 and IS 803 are the standards governing welded tanks for oil and water storage. The standards dictate tank design, fabrication, welding, inspection, and erection requirements. API 650 is widely used for tanks that are designed to internal pressures of 2.5 PSI or less and store products such as crude oil, gasoline, chemicals and produced water. has extensive experience with API 650 tanks ranging in diameter from 5m to 16m in Power Plants and Chemical Storage facilities.
Based on the medium of the fluid, several lining options are possible. Enamel or epoxy coating on the inside and outside of the tanks are common for water tanks. Glass flake epoxy or rubber lining are usually specified for acidic or alkaline tanks. Agitators are mounted for desulphurization and chemical process tanks. The mounting arrangement is provided at the top or sides based on product requirements. For food processing applications, suitable food grade paints or rubber lining may be applied.
As far as automation of tank farms are concerned, the requirements of project application determine the type of instruments and automation to be provided. Level Indicators, transmitters, integration, SCADA systems and automated valve opening and closing can be provided based on the project requirements. Fire protection arrangement for the tanks such as Medium Velocity Spray Systems (MVWS), Foam Systems, Rimseal fire detection and suppression can be provided as part of the fire detection and suppression arrangement of the tanks.
